Renee Ramsey - The World’s Oldest Transgender
Renee Ramsey was a 77 year old man. An ex-GI - Green Beret(!) who is active in the old Army group and has enjoyed marching in veteran’s parades.
Renee had wanted to transition his entire life, but his wife said she’d leave him and he loved his wife. Unfortunately, the wife suffered from advanced stages of Alzheimer’s. (in fact, she just recently passed away). Starting the sexual reassignment, Renee visited the wife in a nursing home every day and cared for her. Renee had been saving money from Social Security and odd jobs, to pay for the surgery. Also, Renee is pursuing a new career, taking courses to become a nurses aid, because the Alzheimer’s facility has offered to hire him.
On the day Renee Ramsey completed surgery, her first words to Dr. Leis after waking up from the anesthesia is, “I feel like a lady.” At 76, Renee is most likely the world’s oldest transgender person.
